Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt T-Shirt To Work Day / November 2025
High Street fashion retailers Topman have been accused by 6 Music DJ Steve Lamacq of 'crudely cashing in on the final great rock institution' by bringing out their own T-Shirt for 'Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt To Work Day'. The T-shirts, branded with the slogan 'Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt T-Shirt To Work Day', have been seen by Lamacq as 'completely missing the point and only being in it for the money'.
'The Wear Your Old Band T-Shirt To Work Day' concept was originally realised by Lamacq and acted as an annual celebration of those back-of-the-wardrobe garments of music memorabilia. Lamacq called Topman 'heartless cunts' and requested the shirts be removed from their stores.
However Mr Snuffles, Director of the Topman Consumers Group, claims he 'couldn't give a fuck' what 'that sentimental git [Lamacq]' thought and that 'people loved old, vintage-y retro shit so we [Topman] shall continue to knock out vulgar reinterpretations of everything popular in music'.
The T-shirts are retailing at £29.99 complete with holes and scuffs around the hem and a series of beer stains down the back. Topman claim the print is deliberately faded and the cotton is of 'the poorest, nastiest quality they could find'.
